GREEN TARA, THE STORY

DSCF4514
Founded by Karima Hawwa in 2012, Green Tara is a love story born out of her search for inner-peace and spirituality. It is through her travels around the world that she fell in love with the treasures and skills of far-away cultures. A trip to Nepal in 2011 is the turning point. Amazed by the creativity and the beautiful art craft of the country, she soon decides to leave her career as a consultant to gather and share rare and authentic items that would add a special flavor and a positive vibe into people’s life.

GREEN TARA, THE GODDESS

Green Tara, the protectress, was born from  the tears of Avalokitesvara, the Bodhisattva of compassion, as he saw the suffering on Earth. Filled with youthful vitality, she acts quickly to help those who call upon her to surmount their fears and anxieties. Hence, she is represented with the right leg always ready to step in and aid you in overcoming difficult situations. In the Buddhist tradition, Tara is actually much greater than a goddess — she is a female Buddha, an enlightened one was has attained the highest wisdom, capability and compassion. . . a being who can take human form and who remains in union with every living thing. A version of the Goddess Tara exists in virtually every culture.
Green Tara naturally became the symbol of the gallery as Karima came accross the Goddess on her first journey to Nepal.
